Dirty Rich One Night Stand

Rate this book
DIRTY, RICH ONE NIGHT STAND.

That's all it was supposed to be. Her. Him. Pleasure. And then a fast goodbye. He's a stranger. And yet, he's not. She knows him even though he doesn’t know her.
He's the powerful attorney, now world-renowned after coming off the trial of a century which was publicized across the country. And I'm one of the reporters that sat in his courtroom.

I watched him, studied him, got to know him from afar which isn't hard since I know his exact brand of confidence, arrogance, and wealth.
I know his type. I've dated his type. Which is why when I happen to come face to face with him, when sparks fly and heat simmers between us, I know what happens if I say "yes" to Reese Summer.

I know he'll taste like sin and sex, even before he kisses me.

I know he'll feel like pleasure and passion, even before he touches me.

I know he'll demand more than I want to give, and yet, because I dare to give myself to him, the result will be deliciously hot.

I know that I will not leave his bed without being utterly, completely sated.

And I know that I will leave the next morning anyway.

And so, I do.

And so, he follows.

And as chase begins my question becomes: Is Reese Summer THE one or is he really just a dirty, arrogant lie that should have stayed a one night stand?

descriptionSo this book was a complete winner for me from beginning to end. I have many of this author's books on my "TO READ" list but much to my chagrin this was the first one I have gotten around to reading. And let me tell you I am kicking myself for waiting so long to give her a go. This may have been my first, but it definitely will NOT be my last.

description

So deets...first I want to step a little onto my soapbox (or maybe just a small step stool), but this book proved to me that you CAN write an intelligent and engaging story without a bunch of OW drama. Without a manwhore hero. Without bashing the reader over the head with the hero's sexual past. What a refreshing change of pace this book was in the land of uber manwhores. OK, stepping back down and continuing on. As I said above this was fantastically well written and paced. The plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages. I am a sucker for a good lawyer book. Have those lawyers in the courtroom, and you have me riveted. As you could already guess from my above comments, there was ZERO ow/om drama. Very little angst. The sex scenes were hot. The secondary characters were intriguing. I am definitely looking forward to reading more about those Walker brothers, AND I hope that Cat's brothers get their own books as well.

description

Both main characters were extremely likable. The banter between these two was perfect. It was humorous. It was intelligent. Like witty foreplay and I loved every minute of it. Reese was a perfect hero. Arrogant but sweet. Sexy as hell. All it took was one little blonde firecracker to call him on his manners, and he was down for the count. Cat was equally charming. Smart. Big hearted. Fiery. A little weary at first because of her past but she never let that get in the way of her feelings for Reese. PERFECT. These two were just utter perfection. Lastly, it was all wrapped up in a lovely ending that will leave with a huge smile on your face. Two HUGE thumbs up from yours truly.description

Overall Opinion: I enjoyed this one a good bit. Sadly, the pacing makes it so I cannot justify a higher rating. I struggled to get into ths at first and then the ending felt cramped and too abrupt. Otherwise -- I enjoyed their dialogue and connection, I liked their chemistry, I really liked the case aspect and them working together, and I thought the conflict was believable. I just needed some time between the conflict and the HEA! Why couldn't we get some quality time with them and the H's mom maybe? ...Or the mcs making a better relationship with Gabe? I'm not sure why the author chose to do this, but it just felt too rushed and like she just threw up her hands and said HEA and done!

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Cat and Reese's story. Cat is a non-practicing lawyer that writes a true-crime column for the paper, and she is covering Reese's high profile case. They meet when Reese cuts in line in front of Cat in a coffe shop and she calls him out on it. They start a fun banter with a strong underlying attraction that has them planning for a ONS when the trial is over. Cat gets more involved in the case and a ONS is no longer an option as stronger feelings start to develop. There is some family and case drama and some sexy times...and they get a HEA ending.

POV: This alternated between Cat and Reese's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Not good. The beginning was a little slow, but then it picked up and I was fully engaged. The ending was too abrupt for my liking and there was just too much at the end where it felt crammed in.

Instalove: No, but they do move quickly.

H rating: 4 stars. Reese. I liked him. I liked his strong moral compass, and how he was aggressive with his pursuit of the h.

h rating: 4 stars. Cat. I liked her. I liked how she wouldn't let the H get away with being rude, and she was strong in her need for independence.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: No

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: Not between the mcs

Separation: No IMO

Possible Triggers: Not really

Closure: This had a really abrupt ending, but I would still say this was a HEA. I just wanted more between the conflict being resolved and their HEA.

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

"And in that first connected moment, he steals my breath and ravishes my resistance. He’s not overbearing or brutally alpha, like many of the men in my life have been. He doesn’t have to be those things. There is an inner strength about him, and a natural charm that allows him to own everyone around him. The way he owns me right now."

4.5 stars - I’ve known for quite some time now that this author can write mind blowing and heart pounding stories like nobody’s business, and this book just proved that once more. LRJ is an amazing storyteller. She has the uncanny ability to write words that grip your attention every step of the way and to develop strong and compelling characters that draw you in and make you invest in them. And Dirty Rich One Night Stand was no exception. Cat and Reese were perfect together. Loved their banter and I particularly liked the honesty and loyalty they showed each other from the very beginning of their relationship. Overall, I enjoyed this engaging story from the very first page and it left the romance junkie in me well sated. If you’re looking for a tantalizing, steamy and captivating read about trusting your heart to take a chance on love and fighting for the right person, then this book is just for you.

Cat is an attorney turned true crime author and blogger who is not only amazingly stunning, she’s also incredibly intelligent, talented, and full of purpose. She’s covering the trial of a man accused of killing his assumed mistress and unborn child. Reese is the defense counsel, a man who is not only insanely easy on the eyes, but he’s also successful (never lost a case), arrogant, dedicated, charming, etc. She’s determined to keep him as a stranger because she assumes that she’s “been there, done that” with a man just like him. You know what they say assuming makes you, right? She’s been burned before and her heart is damaged and she struggles to maintain a certain amount of control when it comes to Reese, to protect herself and distance her emotions. But Reese is a hard man to resist. He himself has been hurt, but for some strange reason, despite everything that should tell him to run in the opposite direction, he can’t fight the compelling allure that is Cat. Throw in the fact that he’s the defense counsel for the trial that she’s covering and holding fast to her resolve or being “one and done” becomes a distant memory.

I think this is the first book I’ve read from LRJ that involved an element of suspense that didn’t directly affect its characters. While it made for some exciting and entertaining reading, it was more of a side plot to bring Cat and Reese together. The trial and its players may have been the main setting of this story, but the driving force were the main characters themselves, which I enjoyed immensely. Getting to see characters from past books, such as the Walker security men, was a pleasant bonus.

You can tell a lot about someone based on their interactions with other people. Granted, when reading and getting to know the characters in a book, we find out more of who they are through their introspection, I always look for who they are around someone else. And I loved who Cat and Reese were when they were around each other. From their witty banter to their instant connection to their fiery chemistry, it seemed that nothing was off-limits in the author’s goal to have the reader understand the true hearts of her characters. And I for one feel that through every push-and-pull, every gauntlet thrown, and through every challenge met, I really got to know these people. So much so that I was rooting for them and their happy ending from the 13% mark, which rarely happens! Whether you’re a die-hard LRJ fan like myself or a newbie, Dirty Rich One Night Stand is not a book you’ll want to miss.

To say that I devoured this book would be an understatement. The mystery elements are well-handled, and the suspense ones have a welcome dose of humor to keep matters breezy and fun.

Reese and Cat send sparks flying off the pages right from the start. Reese is so very hot and extremely sexy!! The chemistry between them is so intense. The secondary characters totally enhance this story as they each have different personalities.

The author does a great job of encompassing mystery, suspense and hot sexy scenes! The way that the story got you thinking and trying to piece together what was unfolding... I was like so into it!

The adrenaline rush I felt once I started reading didn’t stop until I read the last page. I loved this fast paced, attention grabbing erotic story. It was very well written and a recommendation to readers of all genres.

I loved this story from beginning to end. The banter between Reese and Cat, with the courtroom as a backdrop along with an engaging plot line that didn’t take away from the romance but highlighted why they were so perfect for each other. This is a new to me author that I’m so excited already has a backlog of stories I can read.

Dirty Rich One Night Stand was a well-written, interesting story. Lisa Renee Jones always intrigues me, always draws me into a story and never, ever disappointed me with her storytelling abilities. She hit a home run with this book.

I am not sure where to really start with this book. Do I start with Cat, a strong-willed woman who has a mind of her own, speaks her mind and goes after what she wants? Or, do I start with Reese, the arrogant, rich, take-what-he-wants man? They were both compelling characters that could stand toe-to-toe in any argument and hold their own against others as well as each other. To read about a woman who owns who she is and the man that accepts her as she is was truly refreshing. I can’t say that either one of them had the upper hand in the relationship which made this extremely fascinating.

I can’t remember the last time I read a book that held my interest to the point that I read it in one day. But, Lisa Renee Jones’ storytelling and characters did that to me. I could not put it down. I wasn’t sure who was going to have the upper-hand from chapter to chapter. I wasn’t sure where or how they would get to a happily-ever-after with what was against them. I loved the intrigue, the courtroom scenes, the coffee shop. And, LRJ is the queen of writing enticing, erotic scenes that pull the story together.

As you can tell, I am letting the blurb speak for itself. No synopsis of the story. Why? It’s very hard to put into words the relationship Cat and Reese had, what brought them together, what they were dealing with in their personal and public lives. A reporter/author and an attorney are not your usual couple but, they made it work and become a power couple that take on an unexpected opponent and win.

I really enjoy Lisa Renee Jones and the way she writes romantic suspense. She’s articulate and knows how to captivate her audience. Dirty Rich One Night Stand may be a standalone but she has a way of bringing in other characters from other series and does a wonderful job at tying them all together. She just knows how to write a story and entice you into her world.

As always with Ms. Jones it was smart and hot right from the start. Loved having a hero not be a man whore and an extremely intelligent woman not put up with any of his bs. Lots of hot bedroom scenes. Very interesting court case drama. Drama from her family. Plus cameos from the Walker brothers (yum).

I pretty much liked everything about this book. The way they met, the way Cat put Reese in his place which ultimately made him want to pursue her, and the way they worked together throughout the whole book.

Cat seemed on the verge of running for part of this book but thankfully it was more in thought than in action. Reese pursued Cat from the start and never wavered, which I love to see in my heroes.

Reese is defending a man accused of murdering a pregnant woman. Cat is following the trial for her newspaper articles and potential book. Reese lets her in and they work together and discuss this case which made for a great way to watch these two characters connect.

There was some family drama thrown in on both sides to keep things interesting and also to introduce us to future book heroes. We also get to see the Walker brothers and their women from the Walker Securities series.

I'm looking forward to their novella that's coming up.

I've only read one other book by this author and that was awhile ago, so when I started this one I wasn't sure what to expect. But I must say I really enjoyed this book! The background story with the court case made this one a goodie for me. I think I was more engrossed in the court case than the actual romance between Cat and Reese. The writing flowed nicely and I really liked the characters.

This one isn't a five star for me simply because of the constant questioning the heroine was doing and the insta love that sort of came out of nowhere. For a high powered attorney, I think I was expecting more of a hero with a hard outer shell, but Reese turned out to be really sweet. I know not all men are assholes, but I was expecting more from my hero.

This was a nice read that will keep you turning the pages. Even though it's a standalone, if you've read the other books by LRJ then it'll be more enjoyable for you since a lot of her previous characters show up. I definitely recommend this one, especially if you're a fan of LRJ and romantic suspense.

This is a second read for me via audiobook. This help up to the original 5 stars I gave it the first time with the added fun of great narrators. I highly recommend the audiobook.

The biggest thing I loved in this book was how Reed met Cat and he knew she was the one. I love it when a hero goes after what he wants. They way he always wanted her to be by his side was just swoony! I know that's not a word, but it should be.

It all started in a coffee shop, when the story about Mr. Hotness made her forget that she was waiting to be called up next and that arrogant, handsome man attempted to cut in line. Only two trained lawyers would have a battle of wits over who should be up next to order a coffee, but it sparks something between them. When Cat discovers the attorney she is reporting about in her column is the one and only arrogant, handsome man otherwise known as Reese "Mr. Hotness" Summer she has to forget all the naughty ideas she had about him. He's no longer the guy from the coffee shop, he's her job.
Reese Summer doesn't do feelings, but when the beautiful blonde tugged on his arm that first day he knew he had to have her in any way he could. Reporter or not, there's something there, and he accepts the challenge to become more than her job and more than just one night.

"He irritates me, and the only way you deal with a man like him is naked for one night, which you end with a pretty little orgasmic goodbye, and that is all."

Lisa Renee Jones hit it out of the ball park with Dirty Rich One Night Stand, this book was IMPOSSIBLE to put down. I loved the sassy heroine and was head over heels for not-quite-alpha Reese. They're the kind of duo that is just meant to be, there's no denying it from the moment they meet. Like always, LRJ brings the book to life, I could picture the courtroom and coffee shop and physically feel the chemistry flowing between Cat and Reese. It's not all serious lawyer talk over coffees though, Cat is mouthy and has an attitude; her role as reporter makes everything a bit muddled when Reese, a hot shot attorney, finds himself lusting after her. On top of that, LRJ actually writes about the trial and there's a reason why I'm a fan of her for that, I love true crime. I was just as invested in the case as I was in Cat and Reese's affair.

""Situation. There's a way to describe what's happening between me and that man."

I loved this book, SO MUCH, it is by far my favorite standalone from LRJ even with it's length. That's right, Dirty Rich One Night Stand is a long book, 20% in and I hadn't gotten to the real meat of the story, but it's worth the time, I promise. There are a lot of layers to the characters and there is even more dialogue between them to get through those layers, but it does make the sex scenes hotter and more meaningful. We also get glimpses of the Walker gang, which is exciting for readers who recognize them and poses just a couple problems for those who haven't had a chance to just yet. There are references to Royce Walker's story with his wife, Lauren, but they are small and easy to look over if readers have yet to read Deep Under. Additionally, don't let the title fool you, the one night stand these two share is a bit naughty and a lot rich, but the book is not as cheap as the title suggests.

"Please. And I repeat-please to everything."

Dirty Rich One Night Stand reads like a game of cat and mouse, fitting with the heroine's name perfectly. Cat and Reese are similar in so many ways, but neither see those similarities at first. Like most insta-love stories, Cat and Reese have an attraction that makes everything around them disappear, except LRJ finds a way to keep the story moving and in a way that isn't as insta-love as you might expect. Cat's a runner, Reese is new to the chase, and the feelings between them aren't recognized for what they are until the very end. I really enjoyed the crime and lawyer portions of this novel, LRJ knows how to write true business savvy romance with just the right amount of detail and suspense. Ultimately, we all want that happily ever after and Lisa Renee Jones delivers with a bang.

Read until %35, then got bored with the legal stuff that outweighed the romance in the book. Skimmed scanned the rest of it and just read the last few chapters to see how it ended.

***

I liked the hero and the heroine was just OK. She insisted too long that she wanted a one-night stand only and got on my nerves; however, the hero pursued her and persuaded her in the end that they were the real deal. The romance part was good but there was too much other stuff that was boring for me.

***

It seems like an average book worth maybe 3-4 stars if you like your romance blended with legal case stories and some family drama. It just wasn't for me. That's why I gave it 2 stars, because it couldn't keep my interest in it.

Her writing just gets to me! So good!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I simply cannot get enough of this authors writing. I stalk her on social media (in a good way 🙂 ) and follow her writers page so I can try and keep up with her releases. She just has an amazing way with words that begs you to read and read, late into the night.
This book starts off with a bang and never let’s up. Even from the beginning with the synopsis, you know this will be a winner. And trust me, it is.
Arrogant and cocky Reese is a masterful hot piece of man who has met his match in Cat. A strong, intelligent woman who knows what she wants – and doesn’t want. Or so she thinks. The two match wits perfectly and the challenges are on.
With plenty of sexy banter and negotiating at every turn, when they finally break through the barriers, it is explosive in a way that only Ms. Jones can write. Sweaty enough for the reader that you will be fanning yourself as you read and re-read those flipping hot scenes she creates.
The amount of connection, steam, and intense feelings just fall off the page and suck you right in. Ms. Jones is a magnificent example of how an author can take a love/hate relationship and make it explode in every way possible, leaving the reader begging for more with each turn of the page.
There is a reason this author is a best selling writer. She is a queen of intense, flaming hot romance and I simply cannot get enough of her stories.
5 fabulous stars! Love her!
I absolutely LOVED this book! It was not at all what I was expecting, but so much more than I could have hoped. Cat was strong willed and confident, yet vulnerable. Whereas Reese was confident in what he did and what he wanted. These two together were dynamite. They really complimented each other, and I never felt like the story dragged or someone made a truly stupid move.
There's romance, suspense, and intrigue in this novel. But most of all, there's an amazing love story that just makes your heart happy. I seriously started this book because I needed something to read, but then I was hooked. So glad I gave it a try. I highly recommend.
This is a very confusing title. I mean, while both are rich, neither is so rich you could call it "dirty rich". And nobody has a one night stand. Yeah, Cat has a "one and done" thing, but Reese pretty much drives right over that intention from the start. So the title is stupid, but you can tell from my rating that the rest fell into place.
The story/plot is adequate. Courtroom drama drives much of the non-romantic plot and it works okay if you don't know much about actual laws and stuff. That might sound harsher than it is so I'll qualify. The terminology sounded about right and the broad strokes are probably close enough. The prosecutor was an incompetent idiot, though, and a lot of details are of the tell variety that comfortably elides over needing details. It'd probably fail harder for an actual attorney but as someone merely attorney-adjacent who doesn't care very much it was close enough. The reason it's merely "adequate" is because late-story developments depend heavily on lawyerly things that are, at a minimum, simplified and the effect is big enough that it forces a kind of skipping strategy for the storytelling (with weeks going by because things are moving at the speed of the legal system).
But I was in it for the romance and that worked very well, I think. Both protagonists have been love-burned so both are a little gun-shy. I liked that despite the similarities, they still had distinct reactions. Reese was much more certain of himself, for example, and thus willing to take the risk of pursuing Cat for a longer term relationship than she thought she wanted. I also liked how clear Reese was about communicating what he wanted. He was willing to push, but he was also careful not to overstep. Indeed, the one time he does clearly overstep, he's quick to sincerely apologize. I think I lost my heart to him in that scene, actually. Just so full of win, that guy.
So good communication with both learning to take a chance and give the other a break when it was needed. So we end with a great relationship that moved faster than either was prepared for but still ended up solid enough to take the damage dished out by eventual family chaos.
So this is going to be a solid four star rating. There's a lot about the plot that I just took on the author's assertion. It was pronounced enough for me to notice that I was employing my brain-switch to take the "might work" interpretive track (as opposed to the more usual "must work" evaluation). So be warned if you're going to be a stickler for strict probability and accuracy.
A note about Steamy: There were three or four explicit sex scenes. And they were longish and of the adventurous variety that some authors like to indulge. So this is edging into the upper reach of my steam tolerance, but only just.
Eh. I read it, but I felt bored the whole way. He's an amazing arrogant lawyer. She's a journalist underestimated by her family. He's going through some smuck case. They end up together but have to go through this waiting period because of her family conflict with him. It's safe and he pursues her. Something about it felt a bit bland to me.
'Dirty Rich One Night Stand' by Lisa Renee Jones is the story of Reese and Cat.
Cat is a journalist working on a column about the trial that Reese is fighting to get a not guilty verdict for his client. When they meet at the near by coffee house sparks fly but Cat thinks he is arrogant..and a few other things. Cat although had a life of what seems as privilege one she is down to earth and sweet. Seemly the opposite of Reese...but he does have a soft side.
Their story was really great and one that I could not put down. I had to see this to the end...Loved it!
Great Lawyer Romance!!!
At first you might think - ugh - a book about lawyers - there will be so much courtroom and lawyer talk ...
But nope. It's not all lawyery. It's a very adorable and funny and sexy and exciting romance!
I really enjoyed reading it.
Of course the main thing next to our darlings' new relationship is the crime/trial part. We need to find out if Reese's client is guilty - and if not - who is the killer?
But it didn't bother me at all. It was a great story. I wanted to go back to court every day - to see what would happen. I wanted to see our hot, sexy Reese back in his suit killing the prosecution!
And the relationship part. Adorable.
We don't have the usual manwhore and commitment-phobe guy.
He's really great - so sweet and ugh - I loved Reese!!!!
And Cat - she's sweet too. Sweet, smart - and scared. It takes a while for her to trust this whole thing with Reese. But the reader has an amazing time watching them fight for their happily ever after and for the truth in the murder case!
I loved the story - I would've loved it even more with 50 pages less. It was a bit too much here and there. (The first sex scene takes SEVERAL chapters from getting in the door to the morning after! Way too much bla bla before the actual act!)
But I still really enjoyed reading the book.
It was a really smart and beautiful lawyer romance!
I also loved that we got to see the whole Walker gang again! They're helping with the case and Cat is good friends with one of the wives!
Were there some other tiny things I didn't love-love?
First I have to say that I think the title of the book is totally weird. It cheapens the story a bit - it's just weird in my opinion. Nothing is dirty and nothing is a one-night stand and .. hm. Yes, it says that it was supposed to be a dirty one-night stand, but then why call the book that if it doesn't turn out to be like that - readers, scrolling down amazon might think there's no happy end or it's just a cheap porn story :/
And I also don't like the cover - I'm a bit weird about it when the people on the cover don't match the people in the book and the scene doesn't match either.
And the blurb. It makes the story sound as if we're not in the courtroom anymore because the trial is over - but it is SO not over - almost all of the book is about the trial and the courtroom.
DIRTY RICH ONE NIGHT STAND was a very adorable & exciting lawyer/courtroom romance! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Reese - this one is MINE!!!☺
I have to tell you guys.... I really REALLY enjoyed myself reading this story!! I think what I like best was the realism in the journey. Everything that Cat and Reese felt and journeyed thru was relatable and real. I absolutely love reading realistic fiction. It's my jam. When an author makes sure to include societal influences in the story it makes me very happy. Because that's real life. Having second thoughts about how fast you're moving in a relationship is real life. Attraction at first sight is real life. Work and family and friends all mixing it up in your business is real life. Those are the best stories to read, imo.
Lisa Renee Jones does a phenomenal job with this journey on all aspects. I loved the tension and anticipation. I loved the side drama of their jobs because it enhanced their relationship. I really loved the sexy times! I'm thinking I'm about to do some binge reading because this author has a voice you just get sucked into. I can't wait to get started!
This was a five star book until the last maybe 25%? I liked it so much. I loved the court room aspect of it. I don't think I've ever read an erotica where the characters were attorneys and they actually went into the court room. So that was nice to read something new.
But like it ended up getting real weird. And the court room stuff really didn't end up mattering all that much to the way the story ended? I don't know. I was a little bummed because it was so good and then it just wasn't... I even told a friend to read this because I liked it so much. That was obviously before shit got weird. Meh. That's all.
I love it when a heroine is feisty and sassy and can tell the hero off in a manner that only makes him want her more. And that is exactly what happens with Reese and Cat. From their first encounter he wants her and the more he gets to know her he wants everything. However, Cat is a one a done girl when it comes to rich lawyers. The way Reese slowly changes her mind is absolutely swoon worthy. Soon he’s got her just where he wants her but the difficulty will be making sure she doesn’t put up any walls to stop their future. And then things really get tricky.
I loved the dynamic with this couple along with a chemistry that is absolutely sizzling. There is no denying they are meant to be together. Other than a bit of internal conflict within Cat, the largest part of the problem was from outside forces making me consider this a relatively low angst read. Secondary characters are for pushing information forward and really didn’t carrying much of the story with the exception of their families. But even those scenes were bare bones. I would like to see more action and less internal musings but despite that issue, I still enjoyed this one.
Story: I really enjoyed this story. Law is very interesting especially since I am going through a court thing because of a credit card from about 8 years ago. I loved both of these characters, Cat and Reese were great together and separately. When they first appeared in one another's lives, I thought I was really going to dislike Reese. I actually ended up liking both characters and rooting for them. It was interesting to see them debate with each other and discuss their work with one another. I could see that they were both passionate about the work in different ways and that's what drew them together in part. They had conflict in the beginning but it was nice to see each of them let there guards down at different times.
There were certain times when I thought that Cat was going to run when she didn't run to far and I was proud of her. When all the SHIT hit the fan, I wasn't sure if there was anything that would bring them back together. I really wanted to see their families come together in some way but it was still so good. I was sad for them when they weren't together. It didn't make me ugly cry but it was enough with questioning what was going on and how they would come back together.
I wanted to see more drama with Dan and Kelli. With each of their appearances in the book, it seemed like more would happen there. I also wanted to see Cat become closer with at least Gabe because it seemed like they were getting somewhere. I like happy endings where everyone's all happy together or semi happy together because that's totally not real life.
One thing that was weird was that every time someone got off the phone they didn't say bye. They just end the call. At times it says "she hangs up." or "he hangs up." I'm just thinking why. LOL Ya'll are rude. It happened throughout the whole book.
Narration: These are two of my favorite narrators. Erin Mallon, Joe Arden. You can never go wrong. They work so well together and always bring stories to light. I liked the distribution of each of their perspectives and I liked that it ended with Cat. For some reason I have a thing about it ending with the female perspective.
This book was definitely a three and a half stars even perhaps four stars if-it-were-tweaked-a-bit, read for me. I liked it a lot, however, if it had been even a bit slower paced, it could be boring. Pacing is very important in my opinion, and I think this book proves my case. Sometimes the exchanges verged on being stilted, some parts were mushy and over the top. I have rarely seen MC’s being so emo and wordy in a book that I did not actually throw at the wall. so it could use a lot of tweaks as far as I’m concerned. But at least it had potential.
This was just ok for me. I think the title and the cover are very misleading.
3 stars because there was a semi interesting secondary plot. I really wanted to invest in the main couple but their relationship just didn't "grab me".
